I was thinking of getting a new laptop for Christmas, this one has been slowly spinning to a halt for over a year now and had got to the stage where it couldn't do more than one thing at once or I'd get the popup saying "your computer is low on memory - you must shut everything down.." or words to that effect - and then it wouldn't let anything shut down at all, everything would be "not responding" - aaaarrrgghhhhh!!
On a bad day it used to take about a minute (a WHOLE minute) for anything I typed to come up, never mind anything more complicated..
But NOW...
whooopeee! Those wonderful men at PC World have given it a Tune Up and added 2GB of RAM - what a difference. Now my laptop works! Like it should! It's like getting a new one, how fantastic.. technology is once again in my good books.
They didn't happen to reload all your programs from scratch as well did they? My current problem is that it I am getting to the stage that I can barely read my screen for random rubbish that won't go away. It is going to take a reload to fix it and I haven't nerved myself up for it yet!
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think so they did a PC TuneUp for £50 and added the RAM. I've got a portable hard drive I loaded my "Anne" file onto just in case but didn't need it. I had to do a total reboot of my computer about 18 months ago as it got a virus; only problem was iTunes didn't recognise my iPod after that, kept saying it was registered to a different computer! had to go through all sorts of shenanigans to get my library back.
